Saxton F4U Corsair

Hows this for an ambitious project? A clubmate of mine has the
exact same plane and it weighs 32 lbs. He powers his with a G-62
gas engine, which swings a 22 X 10 in. prop 6800 RPM! I was
originally thinking along the lines of 2 electric motors ganged to
one shaft. I have since found a 4000 watt motor that should get
me to the same power level as the G-62, and swing a 26" X 16"
prop Direct drive! It will use 60 - 90 cells. The pictures of the
beast are below the plane pics.

How about a 94" wing, anybody?

All of these pictures were taken on the Bethel Island Golf Course!

I think I could start my Harley with this motor, what do you think?
I finally got this one 2/5/02 from a previous Ebay inquiry. Now I need the speed control. Schulze is making a microprocessor unit for 90 cells and it should be ready this spring. I'm going to have to clear out some room so I can build the 94" wing. Can you believe this baby weighs 4 lb. - 4.6 oz.?
